As temperatures soar, Bhubaneswar emerges as the sixth hottest spot in Asia on April 5, 2024, reported IMD Bhubaneswar Scientist, Umashankar Das.
Taking to X, Das shared a list of Asia’s top 10 hottest locations for the day, with Bhubaneswar hitting 43.5°C, while Chauk in Myanmar claimed the top spot at 45.7°C.
Notably, Myanmar dominated the list with four spots in the top five, while Nandyal, India secured the fourth position with 43.7°C.
Bhubaneswar’s mercury hit 43.5°C by day’s end, with temperatures already reaching 43.3°C by 2:30 PM.
In response, IMD issued a yellow warning for heatwaves in 14 Odisha districts over the next 24 hours.
In light of the scorching conditions, the Khordha district administration adjusted school and Anganwadi timings, now from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM, ensuring safety amidst the heatwave.
