A significant wildfire erupted in Chandaka forest near Godibari, scorching approximately 1.5 acres of land on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the state capital, on Monday evening.
Reports indicate that the wildfire spread across a 2km stretch within the forest, prompting forest and fire officials to take action to extinguish the flames.
Two fire tenders were deployed to tackle the inferno, but as of the latest update, the firefighters were still working to bring the blaze under control.
While the exact cause of the wildfire remains unknown, around 40 forest department workers have been mobilized to combat the fire.
Earlier in the day, seven teams from the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) were dispatched to various locations across the state for forest fire prevention, following the request of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF).
