NCERT REVEALS LATEST REVISIONS, EXCLUDES REFERENCES TO BABRI MASJID DEMOLITION AND GUJARAT RIOTS

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has announced the latest revisions to school textbooks, which notably omit references to contentious historical events like the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya and the killings of Muslims during the Gujarat Riots. Additionally, references to Hindutva ideology have been altered, along with the portrayal of Manipur’s merger with India. These changes are part of ongoing efforts to streamline the curriculum and present a more neutral narrative of India’s history and socio-political landscape. However, these revisions have sparked debate and criticism from various quarters, with some expressing concerns about historical accuracy and the potential whitewashing of sensitive events.
