ISRO Chairman S. Somnath revealed progress on Chandrayaan-4, part of India’s lunar exploration, targeting a manned moon landing by 2040. Chandrayaan-4 represents the initial step towards this ambitious goal, emphasizing the craft’s capability to land on the moon, collect samples, and return to Earth. Somnath highlighted ISRO’s extensive project portfolio, spanning rocket, satellite, application, and technology development initiatives. India’s recent space achievements include the successful Chandrayaan-3 moon landing and the launch of the Aditya-L1 solar mission. The Gaganyaan project aims to demonstrate human spaceflight capability, with plans for a crewed mission orbiting Earth for three days.
